A few weeks ago I did a post like this and people liked it - and I like it!  So here we are again with the media and social items that make me go What ?!?

You may remember this model from the last post - 

Ok - I can get down with this androgynous look - I just wouldn't have thought Fossil would be the brand pushing it.  But I can't really think of the last time I thought "Oh I want something from Fossil."   So I guess they need an interesting ad campaign - well done Fossil you got my attention.  But I still don't want anything.

Speaking of attention getting...

Nope.  Uggg...why?  Kate Moss looks air brushed to HIGH HEAVEN and that wig - do not try and sell me hair products when you are showing me a model that is clearly wearing a wig - it insults me.  Just - No.

But if you are looking to get me to buy something...

Sticking it in a Crayon type box will do it!  Or give me a rainbow selection like this and I want it all - it goes back to Crayola 96 color box.  You were ballin' if you had that in elementary school (obviously I didn't and I have lingering issues) - so now I want ALL the colors ALL the time.  

So what do you love/hate when it comes to advertising?

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara has me confused

Hello:

Today I tried Clinique's Lash Doubling Mascara which is described by Clinique as " Magnifies lashes to twice their size. Thickens them to maximum volume. In minimum time. Unique tapered brush finds every lash. For bigger, better lashes.

Here's an up close of the brush which is quite long.

I like this mascara quite a bit, however it is touted as a thickening mascara that pumps up volume. I saw no evidence of that.  I would define it as a lengthening and defining mascara and a very good one at that.

And here I am with Lancome Hypnose Drama a mascara I feel is actually thickening

Now I realize it's hard to see the difference in these pictures but I like the Clinique mascara, I just like it for different reasons than what the descriptions says it does.  You can purchase it Here.

Clinique's BB Cream is more Primer than true Beauty Balm

I haven't posted in so long I feel terrible.  I've been working on my "real" career :)  I wanted to review some of the many "new" BB creams that are on the market.  If you look at the "original" BB creams that originated in Asia they were much more than the Americanized version. They provided more coverage, hid blemishes, had SPF, moisturizing agents, and dark spot and skin tone evening agents.  I feel what we are seeing on our market is more like a tinted primer with SPF.

Clinique describes their BB cream as  "This instant morning routine gives skin just about everything it needs for a quick start. SPF protection, antioxidants for prevention, plus enough coverage to banish imperfections. The perfect primer, too."

I did a swatch comparison on my arm of my usual Lancome Teint Miracle vs. the Clinique BB Cream in Shade 1.

The BB cream is on top and it's much "pinker" and creamier



I thought it might appear very pink on my skin as I actually am a "warm pale", but it blended in well.

 but would not cover blemishes

I think this would make a good primer, but as far as coverage goes it is very light, and you would need a concealer for any blemishes, under eye circles etc...

Superbalance...except when I use the stairs

Today's foundation face is Clinique's SuperBalanced in Light. 

 The Clinique webbsite describes this foundation as "The smart makeup. Liquid foundation with adjustable, oil-free coverage provides moisture and absorbs oil when and where needed. Silky upon application."  It provides medium coverage and did not cake or get chalky during the day.  I also did not need to apply powder so it must live up to absorbs oil claim. 

It's a good foundation for it's pricepoint $23.  The application is not as smooth as other foundations I have tried, and it needs to be blended in quite a bit, but then you are good to go all day. And as for my superbalance I don't think I've fallen this week, but give it a few days or a set of stairs.

Perfectly not what I expected...

Today I tried Clinique's Perfectly Real Foundation, which is described by the company as "Feels like nothing at all. Yet creates your skin's most perfected, natural look. Patent-pending* micro-mirrored technology optically resurfaces skin. Ultra-lightweight liquid formula is oil-free, non-acnegenic."  The micro-mirrored technology was not a mirror I want to look into after a few hours.  Intially, it looked good:

It took quite a bit of product to get coverage, I generally use about a pea size of product, with Perfectly Real I need about a nickel size.  It emphasized my pore size more than any of the products I have used so far and you do not want to use a setting powder because it turns cakey!  So I think it you really, want to be Perfectly Real that's how you have to wear it - perfectly by itself.  My blush (powder) caked as well, a cream blush may fair better.  This formula is touted as moderate coverage, which I would agree with.  If you just wear foundation and mascara this may work for you, but as a foundation base I'm perfectly disappointed.
