Hello,
This week I found a fun little kit at Walgreens - the Sally Hansen I <3 Nail Art Studs kit ($6.99)
I was rather intrigued as until now finding lots of nail gems (in actual stores) was rather hard or they were more like crafting gems and too big for what I wanted. I know you can order things like this online - but sometimes I like the convenience of seeing things with my own two eyes.
It comes with 3 vials that are about 4" tall - my kit has black "rhinestones", clear "rhinestones" and gold circle studs and are silver on the other side but I think they would not stay on long if they were placed upside down.
It also comes with what I think as a cuticle stick - but it's a gem picker-upper, and indeed it does pick up the little gems - but for placing them I think a tweezers would be much better.
I did a quick little bedazzle on my "Endless Blue" by Sinful Colors manicure -
I took a tweezers (I like to keep old pairs that don't pluck well around for things like this) - and I just dipped the back side in clear top coat - set it on nail and then did a thick coat of top coat all around. I don't like to put the topcoat over the gem as I think it makes them "hazy". It stayed put until I took it off with nail polish remover 3 days later. They are also relatively flat so I didn't have problems with it getting caught on things. Overall I am suitably impressed!
What are you favorite kinds of nail adornments?

4th of July Manicure!
Hello!
So I got out my supplies popped in Breaking Bad Season 5 and started on my 4th of July nails.
I still am not really good at this but having this blog is making my try and try again! (I use the Hallmark Crown Rewards card to scrape the plate by the way - I'm not super into greeting cards or something). I also had a bottle of polish remover near by!
My biggest "challenge" was painting the star plate 3 colors and then stamping 2 of my fingers. You can see the 3 colors in the background, and the residue from swiping the plate on the paper towel.
And here's how it turned out. The colors didn't stamp quite as clearly as I would have liked - but it worked!
And here's the rest of my hand I did a star on my pointer finger, and eventually added glitter to the light blue nails.
And here's the final result! I of course can see a multitude of imperfections. But from a distance they look good!

What have we here...
Hello!
I was at Walmart last week and came across this display by Fing'rs:
And I literally said out loud "What have we hereeeee!" There was stripping tape, and foils and studs and nail stickers! You know nail art is super main stream when there is a display like this! The prices were so-so, $2.48 for a few rolls of stripping tape is high, and the kits with the foil and studs for $6.48 are also way more than you would pay online, but not everyone buys from Amazon weekly like I do.

So here's what I got:
Nail polish, a kit with foils and studs, and a pack of stones and sequins.
I got "The Boys in Blue" on the left - it goes on pretty sheer, it took 3 coats to get the swatch you see. I also got "Star Crossed Lovers" on the right, it is very thick and you definitely have to place the stars, but they are awfully pretty! Each polish was $1.68.
I also got the "Heart 2 Art" Embellish me kit #33041 - it comes with two packs of sequins and 2 packs of mini rhinestones. I know these buggers are going to be tricky to place but for $2.48 I thought I could give it a try.
My biggest expenditure was the Heavy Metal extreme nail art kit for $6.48. I know I could get WAY more if I bought this stuff online, but the convenience of it is hard to beat. It came with some foils in silver and gold, stud stickers and loose studs. I just realized I better get some nail glue to put those studs on!
Overall it's not the BEST quality, but if you are doing nail art frequently you don't need it to last so it's a fun way to give it a try!

Nail Stamping - First try!
Hello!
So I finally pulled out my supplies and decided to give it a go!
I have had this Konad kit and plate for about 18 months. About that time is when I started reading The Nailasaurus and saw nail "stamping" for the first time. I was at the mall a few weeks later and saw an actual Konad "booth" and I picked up these goodies for like way to much but I didn't realize you could buy this stuff anywhere else at the time.
Since my nails are still really short I decided I could use my feet as my first palette. I still wanted to do a 4th of July thing - but simple. (So beware if you don't like feet, there are pictures of toes ahead!)
The little plate "holder" is useless - as I've mentioned before RainySunRayNails has some wonderful videos on her site on how to stamp so I ended up following her method and just placing the plate on a paper towel. I made sure to "rough up" the stamper a bit and clean the plate and the stamper with acetone. The Konad scraper is also hard to use and I felt like I was scratching the plate. I used an old gift card instead.
It took me a few tries to get it down - and I can tell it will get better with practice. And wa-la!
The dark blue looks almost black in this picture - but as you can see in the polish picture above it's a true blue. I actually really like how it turned out. I think I should be able to do my poor little nail stubs on Wednesday.
Hope you are having a great weekend and please follow me on Bloglovin' - because GFC is going away at the end of July and I want to be able to connect with all you!

Toes are soooo frightening close up! Sorry!
And then I grabbed some more patriotic colors and my dotting tool and added some "flair" :)

M*A*S*H Nail stamping plates!
Hello!
So I always drool over the nail art at Rainysunraynails - seriously check out her blog. It blows my mind. And you have seen me do basic painting and one in awhile I have used stripping tape! I even have a Konad stamper and ONE plate - but I wanted more options. Enter Amazon.com they have so many plates for relatively cheap that I just went with a brand I had heard of and had some cute images - I paid $15.99 for 25 plates - not bad, here's the link Mash plates. It was also free shipping so...
You can't see the designs super well because of the packaging - but I think you get it. I was drawn to this set because it had Astrological signs, and other cool full nail designs. If you check out RainySunRayNails, she has a really good tutorial on how to stamp. Unfortunately, I cut all my nails down to the bit for my camping adventure so, it may be a week or two before I try these. But I was excited to show them!
Here's a few of my favorite plates. Wouldn't the star overlay be perfect for 4th of July?
So are you a stamper? Any tips for me? Any more plates I need? I hear Cheeky is good too!
