MOTW - Lilac Luxe

Hello!

Tonight I wanted to share my manicure of the week!  I had previously has the Sally Hansen Insta-Gel Stips on - See Here!  I took them off after ten days (a combination of chipping and a beauty bloggers need to change!)  So I decided something spring & blingy would be in order.

So I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac as my base ->

Then I put on some of those French manicure stickers and painted the tips with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Celeb City and a top coat of Diamond Flash ->

For some reason (probably because of the flash) it looks uneven, but I swear it looks fab in real life!

I love non-traditional French manicures - how about you?

MOTW - Sally Hansen Ista-Gel Strips

Hello!

This week I used the Sally Hansen Ista-Gel Strip kit to do my manicure - the kit runs anywhere between $27.97 -$29 depending on where you get it (Get it Here!).  It includes the strips (16 of them in various sizes), a orange stick and mini nail file, the Gel top coat and the UV light.

I haven't had the best luck with the regular nail stickers so I was worried this wouldn't work so well.  But the strips are much more flexible and easily repositionable.

So you just shape your nails, use the included nail pad to clean them, put on the sticker, pull it taught and it basically snaps off at the edge of your nail.  The smooth it all in place, file off the excess and coat it with the Gel top coat.  Put it under the included LED lamp, hit the button and the light goes on for 30 seconds.  Then you wipe it again with the nail pad and it's dry!  How does it work?  Magic. It's seriously easy.  And I think it turned out really nice.

The manicure is advertised to last "up to 2 weeks" - we shall see...  More strips are kinda spendy at $13 ( I could buy like 4 bottles of polish for that!) - but if you are going vacation this would be perfect.  Or if you just don't like doing your nails but like them to look nice.

Could you maintain the same color for 2 weeks or would you get bored?

MOTW - Inspiration Project Runway

Hello!

This week I knew I wanted to do some red nails, and some dots but what fun colors go with red but aren't too matchy matchy??  Well I was watching Project Runway and saw this fabric turned into an absolute MESS of a dress... but the color scheme was just right!

Red, orange & teal!

I also took inspiration from a post by the lovely Nat from Gl0ssy - who did "naked dots".

And so I picked my palette of polishes :

Sally Hansen Salon manicure in Barely Bluebell
Quo by Orly mini
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Snappy Sorbet

And one of my dotting tools from Cheeky.  Et Viola!
Day light on left and indoor light on right

I love how it tuned out and the colors went together just right!

Monday MOTW

Hello!

It's Monday and time to show my MOTW (manicure of the week)!  This week I wanted to do something sort of Valentine-ish but not too over the top.  When I started looking at my polishes I decided what I REALLY wanted was to use my Seche Collage Overlay.

All the Glossiness of Seche plus sparkles and holo - hexagons!  Then I found a girly pink polish from my collection of Sally Girl mini's (available at Sally's Beauty Supply) and my quick dry top coat and 20 minutes later I was done :)

On the left is in daylight and on the right Indoor lighting.  There is some visible nail line at some angles, but otherwise I like the soft look of it with a bit of bling.

I think it's pretty...

Do you like holiday themed nails?

MOTW - spring came early

Hello!

It's time for my new MOTW (Manicure of the week).

I was going to attempt a jelly sandwich today (see Here), but the glitter polish I got was suspended in a light teal base, not clear, and it didn't have large enough glitter sooooo.... Here's what I ended up with instead.

This is two coats of Essie's Marshmallow, with two coats of Spoiled Use Protection over it and a top coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Flash.  It's ok, I have been loving pastels lately and this has more sparkle than is showing up in the pictures.

Like or Dislike?

NOTW - China Glaze Spontaneous

Hello~

This week I noticed a lot of purple/lilac polishes catching my eye.  And because I am a bit pale and light lilacs can make me look like I have hypothermia, so I opted for a deeper lavender.  Spontaneous by China Glaze.

Spontaneous was part of the "what's your color" collection, which assigned a color to each sign -Libra: Spontaneous Nail Polish - Lavender, acts a as a tonic, balancing the mind, body and spirit. Somehow, you keep everything together, even in crazy times.
I had no idea that was the inspiration behind this polish when I got it, and it just so happens I am a Libra - CrAzY.....

And here's how the manicure turned out -

On the left is daylight and on the right is indoor lighting, I actually added a sparkly accent nail as I had a Love & Beauty polish from Forever 21 that matched very well.  Sometimes I think I'm too old to have a "trendy" manicure - but clients thought I was 29 the other day so maybe it's ok.  :)

What color have you been "feeling" this week?
