Ohhh la la Red Lips - NYX Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary

Hello:

After I realized in my 2012 favorites post that I hadn't shown some of my favorite red lipsticks, I knew I need to fix that quick,  so here's one of my favorites!

NYX Matte Lipstick in "Bloody Mary"

It's a very pretty true red with a blue undertone.  Although it is a matte lipstick it's not drying, I find it very comfortable to wear.  It really brightens up my whole face.

The above is just one quick swipe on the top and bottom lips - very pigmented!

Before the magic of red lipstick

Love it :)

So I'm going to post a red lipstick a week until I get thru my collection!
Do you have a favorite red?

2012 favorites!

Hello!

I am bit late to the 2012 favorite post - but as there are still 50 weeks of the year to go I think it's not a total faux pax.

So here are the products I loved the most into 2012 - some may have come out before 2012, but last year is when I discovered them!

#1) Lancome Huile Doucer
I love the smell, it takes off eye and face makeup wonderfully and leaves your skin silky soft.  $37

Huile Douceur

#2 Lancome Teint Idole 24H - (in shade 100)
I wrote about my love for this foundation in a post Here,  it provides almost full coverage and is the closest shade to my skin I have found to date.  $44

#3 Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70
The best sunscreen I have found for the face. It's very thin and lightweight, so you can put your daily moisturizer on then this and then your foundation and your face does not feel like a cakey mess. $12

#4 Freeman Facial Enzyme Mask
My face really feels softer and my night time moisturization seems to sink in more. So for $4 it's a treat for your wallet & face :)  Review Here.

#5 My Inglot Freedom Palette

Too bad I took such a bad picture of it~ Inglot's products are amazing and I am so lucky to live in a city that has an actual store.  Review of the palette I made above Here.

#6 MUFE HD Primer

Haven't found a better primer for me yet!  Just does the job it's supposed to.  Review and frightening pictures of me in the morning Here.

#7 Lancome Oscilation Intensity Mascara
It just makes my lash look so good so easily.  $35   Review Here.

#8 Milani Corallina Baked Blush
I just love the color this gives my cheeks it makes me look "alive" :)  Review Here

#9 Red Lipstick!

I didn't realize I hadn't written a post about my love of red lipstick and how everyone can wear it - there IS one for you!  My love is now branching to bright pinks fuchsias and corals.

And finally...

#10 My Ipsy subscription

For $10 a month I am always pleased and really look forward to it.  www.ipsy.com

Here's to finding 10 more wonderful things this year!
Are any of mine on your list?

Inner Beauty Friday - Book Club!

Hello!

Once again I am joining up with Heather from Blonde...Undercover Blonde for Book Club!

This week I read "Astray" by Emma Donoghue -

Astray

Here is the synopsis from Goodreads.com: "The fascinating characters that roam across the pages of Emma Donoghue's stories have all gone astray: they are emigrants, runaways, drifters, lovers old and new. They are gold miners and counterfeiters, attorneys and slaves. They cross other borders too: those of race, law, sex, and sanity. They travel for love or money, incognito or under duress.

With rich historical detail, the celebrated author of Room takes us from puritan Massachusetts to revolutionary New Jersey, antebellum Louisiana to the Toronto highway, lighting up four centuries of wanderings that have profound echoes in the present. Astray offers us a surprising and moving history for restless times."

My thoughts:  I really enjoyed this book.  The short stories are quick to draw you in and then the little historical basis to the story at the end is sooo interesting.  A great easy read - but one that actually leaves you feeling educated.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Manicure - Sally Hansen

Hello -

I realized I shouldn't call it a NOTD (Nail of the Day) post because I usually only do my nails once a week - or if they chip.  I CANNOT stand chipped nail polish.  Anywhoo...  this week I used Sally Hansen's new polish line Lustre Shine in Lava.

They come in 8 different colors and are described as "An intense and radiant nail lacquer infused with real silver. Inspired by the lustrous color flip of molten, liquid metal and the iridescence of a peacock feather. Creates an iridescent effect on the nail." -from the Sally Hansen website.  I thought they would be a little more douchromatic than it applied.

It took 3 coats to get it almost opaque, I can still see a bit of visible nail line.

The color reads a little bit more redish pink in real life.  I think this will be a very fun summer color for the toes.

Have you tried the Lustre Shine polishes?

Review - OCC Lip Tar in Strumpet

Hello!

Today I finally tried one (yes I have 7) of my OCC Lip Tars!  And I am in love :)  It is all the things I heard it would be - Long lasting, Excellent color payoff and you only need the tiniest amount.

I would definitely recommend exfoliating your lips before applying as it will show all your dead skin bits.  They also recommend applying clear lip tar first, but I found as long as I exfoliated and had a used a bit of balm like 20 minutes in advance it was fine.

Here it is swatched on my arm - I could not get a clear picture, excuse the blurriness:

And like the directions show it works best to apply it directly to the brush, you need a teeny, tiny amount.  About the size of  a large hex in a glitter polish :)

And the results - wa-lah:

It actually looks much more like the color of the swatch on my arm in real life - I took the pictures in 3 different kinds of light but my camera just couldn't seem to catch it, but you can see the lovely texture and coverage non the less.  And it lasts and lasts, and than fades to a stain.

I will definitely be trying my other colors in the next few days.

Have you ever tried the Lip Tars and if so what is your favorite color?

Review - Boots Botanics Soothing Eye Make Up Remover

Hello!

Today I wanted to share a new (to me) product I have been using that I really like.  It's Boots Botanic's line Eye Makeup Remover (you can find their products at Target) :

It's a dual phased eye makeup remover so you can see from the picture below you need to shake it up to mix the two liquids.  I didn't find it to be overly oily.

Here's my eye makeup at the end of the day (too faced shadow insurance, cream eyeliner and 4 different eye shadows plus mascara) a little bit worn from an 8 hour day (don't judge):

With one wipe of the eye makeup remover I was down to this (and I literally mean ONE fast wipe):

Just a little bit of shadow that I totally missed with the pad (so no fault of the remover) and my mascara which I always need to hold the remover on to make sure I get it all off (my eyes are actually really sensitive so I need to be sure there's no residue at night or I wake up with itchy, puffy eyes).

On the bottle it also said you can use this as a "quick pick me up" be keeping some in the fridge and then putting it on pads and laying them over your eyes for 5 minutes - I definitely must try!

I definitely never thought I'd find a replacement for my Lancome Bi-Facil  ($28 for 4.2 oz) but this is just as good if not better at 1/4 of the price ($6.49 for 5 oz).

What's your favorite eye make-up remover?

Jasmine

*I received this product for free from Boots USA, but all thoughts and opinions are my own*

Sunday Social!

Hello!

Once again I am linking up for Sunday Social!

1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?

Yes!  More protein, and less carbs.  I'm also going to try and pack my lunch more often.

2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays?

Aerobics is key - and most people think you need to just do something aerobic for 20 minutes for it to count, but it you need to have your heart rate at an aeorbic pace for 20 minutes to be effective.

3. Favorite thing you did over the Holidays?

Had a wonderful New Year's brunch with frineds.

4. What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2013 that you did not in 2012?

To have over 100 GFC followers.

5. Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why:

1- Going to see Lady Gaga in concert!
2- Going camping in Yellowstone
3- Continuing my blog and making it even better :)
