So what do a $645 pair of shoes and my manicure of the week have in common?

So this week I am still suffering from broken nail trauma, and I think dark colors look better on shorter manicures, but I didn't want just glossy black nails - I wanted some sass!
So I gathered up a shiny black lacquer, a classic Red (sent to me by the lovely Nat from Gl0ssy) and a shiny top coat. I also grabbed my roll of stripping tape which I forgot to photograph but I bet you can guess what it looks like.
First I painted my thumb and ring finger with 2 coats of red, let it dry, applied the stripping tape and then painted to coats of black across each nail. ( The Rimmel polish was a bit thick, I should have stuck to Orly's Liquid Vinyl).
Et viola! But the real similarity lies in the middle picture above. I also painted the underside of my nails red, just like the shoes ;)
What inspires your manicures?

Ok, this looks amazing! I need to try using tape like that.
ReplyDeleteI got mine on amazon for 97 cents! I think it turned out ok, I think a thinner top coat over the tape would work better.
DeleteI tried this once on long nails, but it just looked weird on me :( I think it's because I feel like long nails look weird on me in general. And keep in mind, when I say "long", I really mean "any white showing at all"...lol...I don't know why I prefer them so dang short!!
ReplyDeleteMy pointer finger is the broken one and the rest are actually a little longer than usual, because I wanted to do this. Usually I don't have it much longer than the tops of my finger. I don't like "talons" either :)
DeleteI like this idea, it's really cute! This week I am also suffering from the broken nail blues!! I don't mind cutting mine down though since they have been growing like crazy ;|
ReplyDeleteMine grow fast when their not broken - i swear if I break one it stunts it's growth for a month while the others just move on!
Deletelol your nails have a mind of their own ;) do you take any vitamins for hair & nails?
